RMI May 3rd Update

Jambo from beautiful Kitale , Kenya ,

Rita and I have just completed our first month back on the ground. Of all the months we have spent here, this was certainly one of them!! Things are about to get whipped back into shape. A lot of neglected areas of ministry, etc., have been attended to and we are back on track.

New dinning room table and chairsA lot of progress is being made in getting the boxes unpacked that came via the container. Rita got many, many books stamped and in the bookshelves in the office this week. She is working on getting the tapes and CDs put in bookshelves and ready for use by our Kenyan sons and daughters. As she has been removing the books from the boxes and stacking them on the big table, our guys just walked around with their mouth open, never having seen so many and assorted books. We are so pleased to be able to provide good solid Bible-based resource materials. We have made the decision not to allow any of the resources to leave the office. Books, tapes, etc., have a real habit of never finding their way back to their owner once they leave the place. All materials will be used in the office, where there is a large table, chairs and a good place to take notes. We want to conserve as many of these resources as possible for use many years down the line.

New furniture in sitting roomWe are back in full gear with ministry. I preached 19 times during the month of April. May is looking to be very, very busy. Yesterday Rita and I both preached in a conference for one of the local churches. The church is located about 25 kilometers from Kitale, on the slopes of Mt. Elgon . The drive out there is stunning. With the spring rains, the pastures are green. Many farmers have their maize planted and it is now about 6 inches tall. Looking in one direction you see the Cherangani Hills and looking in the other direction you see Mt. Elgon. We had a wonderful time of ministry. Rita preached one session and I preached 2. We prayed for many people, for over an hour and a half. We saw the grace of God touch so many. People with long-standing illnesses were instantly healed. I never cease to marvel at the goodness of God as He touches His people so profoundly. We expect to get testimonies of many, many people who had dramatic signs and wonders take place in their bodies. Today we ministered in Airport Worship Centre, Cherangani. I have ministered in this church since 2003. It is a small bush church, but the people are so receptive to our ministry. One of the exciting things about ministering with Pastor Luka is that he invites the other churches in the community to come together. They do come and have a great time of praise, worship and the word. Pastor Luka's church prepares lunch and it is a good time for all. Each time we are there and minister to the sick, we see wonderful results. Last year a large growth in a lady’s left breast dematerialized as I prayed over the people. She was in the service today verifying the healing. Today, a lady who has suffered from extremely painful headaches for 10 years was healed. Many others gave witness that they, too, had experienced the healing power of God. Last Sunday, a young lady who had suffered with stomach ulcers for 10 years was healed instantly. We will have her testimony and photo in our next Update.

Pastor Luka's churchBeginning tomorrow, Monday, I will preach each day through Friday in one of the several lunch hour meetings in town. I have preached in this lunch hour many times and thoroughly enjoy the people who attend. It is right down town where many of the business people come for the meeting. I plan on preaching the series on Grace that I have been sharing in many churches over the past several months. On May 16th Rita and I leave Kitale for Kampala . We will be ministering in 2 conferences during the week of May 17-24th. On the 18th-20th we will minister in a women’s conference and then from the 21st-23rd we will minister in a Kingdom Impact Conference. Rita has never been to Uganda so she is looking forward to seeing some new country and see why I enjoy going to Kampala . Pray for these ministry opportunities.

In addition to Rita having her living room furniture, which we had made locally, delivered and getting her dining table and chairs that we bought in Kisumu delivered, I had a very important event occur, too. On Friday, Nashon, David and I had an appointment with Eli Rop, owner of the Sayare radio/TV station. We went to discuss having a weekly TV program. I took the new camera we bought while in the States and he was very impressed. In fact, he asked if we could get someone from the States that was coming over to bring him one. We will be going on TV the first week of June. We have been calling our radio program “Restoration Hour,” which I have never really cared for. As a team we decided to change the name of our radio program and have the same name for our TV program, “Kingdom Connection.” I know Jentzen Franklin calls his program that in America , but there is no program by that name here. Our ministry is to bring people into a place of revelation of the Kingdom of God and get connected to it.

Driving up to meeting at KabosEver since the idea of a TV program has been rolling around in my mind, I had thought we would have conferences in a hotel meeting hall in some of the bigger cities and video the messages preached there and use them for the program. Well, God has thrown me a curve ball!! Even though I wanted to have the bigger meetings in “better” places, I have never been able to get a peace about it. So, I mentioned to Eli that I was struggling with the decision of where to video the meetings and that I really was feeling that because we have such favor and such powerful ministry in the bush, that was where we needed to concentrate our ministry. I asked what he thought of that. His eyes lit up and he said that was a perfect set-up and encouraged us to pursue that direction. Well, yesterday way up on the slopes of Mt. Elgon , we videoed our first message for the TV program. David shot some video of the beautiful Cherangani Hills and Mt.Elgon. God is just downloading ideas of how to use the natural beauty of our surroundings. Please, pray that David will have the skills to edit and produce a high quality program. Pray that there is a special anointing each time I preach a message to be videoed for one of the programs. The impact of this opportunity is huge. We also learned on Friday, that Sayare TV has been granted a license that will allow them to broadcast their programs in Uganda , particularly Kampala , also starting June 1st.

Preparations for the launching of the Bible schools are moving along very well. We have been sending out text messages making pastors and leaders aware of the impending launching of the schools. We will actually have our first informational meeting on June 2nd. It will be in that meeting we will cast the vision and give them the particulars of how they can have a Bible school in their church. They will be made aware of the financial obligation, the administrative requirements and other necessary responsibilities. We are believing for about 75 pastors to attend this meeting and out of that 75 we are believing for a minimum of 25 who will be committed to launching a school in their church.

Woman who suffered headaches for 10 yearsAs you can see, ministry is back in full swing. Rita and I are so in our element and so enjoying being back here with our people doing what God has called and graced us to do. We so appreciate you and your support in its many forms, i.e., prayer, financial, encouragement, sending e-mails letting us know you appreciate what we do. We thank God for you.

Blessings to you,

Louie
