January started out warm and muggy here in Houston, but as we write this newsletter, we are enjoying an absolutely beautiful morning. The sun is shinning and the temperature is quite cool - the mid 40s. Nice!!
Louie is spending several days in Tampa attending Dr. Leon van Rooyen's pastors meeting. They will also have an opportunity to discuss the Bible Schools we will launch when we return to Kenya. Leon is the one who developed the curriculum that will be used in the Bible Schools. With the economic downturn in Kenya, they are trying to determine the best strategy for providing the materials in a form that will be affordable to the students. We are looking forward to offering this opportunity to the pastors and churches to receive good, foundational, biblical teaching without leaving their villages.
With the holidays behind us, we have focused our attention on two rather large projects:
Selling our home in Pearland and packing up our belongings for storage. Our home has been such a blessing for six years but we know the time has come for us to "downsize" and we are ready to move out and let another family be blessed by living in such a great house.
Packing a 20 foot container with ministry items (books, tapes, office furniture, computers, computer desks with chairs, and a 200-seat tent, etc.), and some household and personal items to be sent to our compound in Kitale. The loading day for the container is February 5th, with the ship expected to set sail on the 12th. They estimate it will take six to eight weeks to reach our compound. Please pray for the whole process of securing the documentation, loading the container, safe passage, and full provision for the cost of the shipment.
