RMI February 2009 Newsletter

What absolutely beautiful weather we are having here in southeast Texas today! It is the kind of day that causes one to want to be outside enjoying the sun and the soft breeze. Louie enjoyed one of his favorite activities yesterday—walking up on the seawall in Galveston, something he has not had the opportunity to do this since our return to Texas in November.

Louie just underwent a second eye surgery to correct the vision in his left eye. All the information we had been given regarding the particular procedure he had (a PRK) was that it was very painful for several days, but, praise God, he has no discomfort except for several hours the morning following the surgery. The cataract on his right eye is to be removed on March 2nd. He is looking forward to good vision for the first time in many years!

We promised a report on RMI’s 2008 Christmas in Kenya project in this month’s newsletter. We are so happy to report that a total of $4805 was given and that the funds have been disbursed to the three orphan projects. Unfortunately, we did not receive photos this year because of camera issues, but the funds were used to purchase new school uniforms and other school related items for the boys and girls. Thank you for making this special project a success for the fifth year in a row.

During the last two weeks of February, we will be participating in a couple of Kingdom Impact Conferences.

February 19 – 22       Shady Oak AG in Lake Jackson, TX
February 26 – 28       City-wide meeting in Hemphill, TX at the High School

We are looking forward to these ministry opportunities and invite you to join us if you are in the area when these meetings take place.

We often mention our appreciation for the prayers that go forth on behalf of the ministry of RMI and Louie and me personally. We don’t take those prayers for granted. Again this year, we are sending a card with our photo and contact information to you in hopes that you will use it as a reminder to pray for us on a regular basis. We face many challenges as we return to Kenya this time and we are encouraged when we receive an email from different ones telling us that they are praying for us. What a blessing!
